Guy Scott Runs the Great North Run!

#RunFatGuyRun is running again for the best hospital!!

Once again, I will be pushing myself to the limit by running the Great North Run this year on Sunday 13th September.

This time, I will be running for the best hospital I know; Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity (GOSHCC). When my daughter was born, we were told the most devastating news that she needed two life-saving operations on her kidneys, to make her the fantastic girl she is today! Throughout this worrying time, the staff at Great Ormond Street could not have done a better job and we cannot thank you enough!

Now my daughter, along with my wife, have encouraged me to get motivated and shift some weight! So, now that I have lost six and a half stone, I want to give something back and it is now my turn to go through the pain barrier for children needing our help.

About the run

The Great North Run first started back in 1981 when just over 12,000 people took part in the 13.1 mile course starting from Newcastle Upon Tyne, finishing off in South Shields.

Going through the city centre, the course will head towards the River Tyne, crossing over
the iconic Tyne Bridge. From here I will push on through Gateshead, then on towards South Shields. At the top of Prince Edward Road, the clear sea view will be a welcome sight, signalling just a mere 1 mile left to go making the final stretch towards the finishing line.

As a well recognised event, last year the run became the first International Association of Athletics Federations event in the world to welcome its millionth finisher.

Overall, The Great North Run is a fantastic day for all, whether you’re taking part of a strong supporter on the side.
